It all started back in the days of corduroy in an abandoned chicken shed on the Isle of Mull, where two young scamps (enterprising young individuals) peddled 'things they'd found' and 'things they'd made' to unsuspecting visiting relatives to buy sweeties & packets of Space Invaders from the 'Garage'.

Forward to Perth 1993 and a newbie design graduate and an architecture graduate (we'll call them Arlene & Alison), wondering what their future will hold, join forces to open an emporium of delights in the very smallest shop in town. And just to confuse everybody, they call it Bùth Bheag (little shop to you). For years they stitched, sanded, painted, oiled, tweeked, hoiked furniture around, and hung out in every auction house in the land to bring the good people of Perth and beyond interesting things for their homes.

Then along came 'baby Alison' (we'll call her Rosie). And when little Rosie became too big to sit in the window they knew things were going to change. At first they decided to move closer to the people and made their new home in the centre of the Fair City (Perth to you) in the street of Watergate (sometimes referred to as 'you know...that street where the back of McEwans is'), where they brought in the work of many more artisans. And then the inevitable day came when Alison became lost to the Kingdom (Fife to you), family, and what is known in the trade as a 'proper job'.

Arlene continued onwards and over the following years she brought in so much new work by talented makers & designers that alas there was no longer room for sanding & painting & hoiking of furniture. Other changes happened too and eventually Bùth Bheag became plain old Boo Vake (don't tell anybody but you if you say it out loud it's the same).

And here we are at the present day. Boo Vake continues onwards to bring original contemporary gifts & homewares to Perth (or 'something different' as it's known in these parts).
